Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Arrives, Revealing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the upcoming animated film.
The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the far corners of the universe. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Iconic Releases
Much like the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some familiar faces, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The film will feature once again of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
The upcoming Mario film is set to release close to the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo has a trio of new releases publicly declared for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
