Previous FBI director James the former director has entered an innocent plea to making false statements to congressional representatives and impeding a congressional proceeding.

Mr Comey's attorney filed the answer representing him in a federal court in Alexandria, Virginia on Wednesday morning.

Patrick Fitzgerald announced he would attempt to have the case terminated for several causes including that his the accused, a critic of Donald Trump, was being targeted.

James Comey was indicted just days after Trump urged his chief prosecutor to take action against him.

Judicial Process

At the proceedings on Wednesday, his attorney the legal representative advised the court they planned to present several petitions to throw out the legal matter before a legal hearing, stating the government's case was vindictive and that a federal prosecutor was unlawfully appointed to handle the proceedings.

Mr Comey's legal matter was initially handled by the original attorney, who resigned under influence from the former president after his examination into another opponent - the New York official - was unable to file indictments.

Courtroom Atmosphere

Mr Comey seemed in optimistic frame of mind as he came into the legal venue on Wednesday, speaking with his lawyers and making jokes. He was joined by his wife, his wife and child Maureen, a government attorney who the Trump administration terminated.

Following the reading to the magistrate state his constitutional guarantees and the pair of allegations against him in legal proceedings on Wednesday, Mr Comey was inquired if he grasped the charges.

Previous Events

Mr Comey was the head of the FBI from four years and was fired about a few months into Trump's first administration as national leader. At the moment, the director was directing an probe into Russian election interference and whether there were any connections between the Russian government and Trump's campaign.

Throughout his leadership, James Comey caused a counter-response from liberal politicians when he stated just shortly prior to the 2016 presidential election that he was examining presidential nominee Clinton's use of a personal email system. Current Allegations

The charges against James Comey came after the former president shared on social media insisting on his top legal official, Pam Bondi, prosecute Mr Comey and other people.
